Toot toot
Not to toot my own horn, but well, why not. Just to update for anyone who is interested, we completed the MS Walk this year as the number 1 team in Sacramento. Our team- Lucky 13 - was able to raise over $16,000 for MS research. A good portion of this money was donated by friends of my dad. I had a personal goal of $12,500 and they (as well as my friends!) well surpassed that for me. I have been constantly overwhelmed at the generosity and kindness of these people- most of whom I have never met. I got many kudos for the fundraising, and I think that's a little ridiculous. I mean all I did was send an email. The people who deserve the kudos are those living with the effects of this horrible disease, but who still find a way to live their lives with grace. I was touched by all those who were there to celebrate and support the struggle and accomplishments of our loved ones who face this disease on a daily basis. Thank you to those of you who helped with donations and also to those of you who have kept our team, and especially Lisa, in your prayers!
So I've been thinking...

Do I need to be reminded EVERY SINGLE DAY that gas has reached a new "record high"? Please- we've got it. We see the numbers going up on every street. And let's see- it stands to reason that if today was a record high, and it goes up, then tomorrow will also be a record, and on and on. I'll tell you what- when prices drop- then you can let me know. Then it really will be news!
Last week my friend Lisa and I were able to meet one of our favorite people - Jen Lancaster. She was doing a book reading/signing in San Fran, so we scooted on down there after school. She was every bit as adorable and as funny as I thought she would be. Her new book- "Such a Pretty Fat" came out a few weeks ago. I did not love it as much as the others, but that would be impossible. If you have never read her stuff- what the heck are you waiting for? Go. Now. Buy. Read. Laugh. You can thank me later.
Well you know what, all the snark that was sitting in my mind seems to have escaped. I'll be back when it finds me again. TTFN!
My Newest Crush
Back at the beginning of the season I posted saying I was going to give "Dancing with the Stars" a try. I sort of stuck to it, though I never caught whole episodes (sorry- "Greek" is on at the same time). Anyway- I told you all how I love Jason Taylor in that previous post, and I have to say- the crush has grown and grown. Seriously- the guy is so friggin hot!!! I mean, despite the fact that he plays for the rival (HA HA) Miami Dolphins (rumor has it that may not be for long...) Now, Obviously Kristi won- and deservedly so. Even though I hoped Jason would win, I knew from the beginning it would be Kristi. How could she not? So I think that coming in second to the former professional figure skater is the same as winning it all. Here are some pictures so you can see his supreme hotness...

From Eagle to Falcon

Decimal Madness
There. I feel better now...
National Asshole Day
The main problem that I had today is that people seem to think that when I drive on the freeway it is their right to put my life in jeopardy. Note to the people of Sacramento- NOT SO MUCH!!!!! Please- if you want to get yourself killed- go right ahead. But please, allow me to drive safely and try not to kill me. All I know is that it's a good thing that I only work a mile from home. Here are some highlights:
- First there was the lady who I was trying to let merge in front of me like a nice person, but her inability to find the gas pedal made me have to slow down so much that I was nearly hit from behind. So behind or side- that was my choice.
- A mile later there was the idiot who tried switching 4 lanes over and who came within an inch of hitting me in doing so.
- When turning onto the 2 lane Alta Arden with a very wide shoulder (but NOT another lane) the woman who drove the entire length in the shoulder. Fortunately she was slow enough that when I got over to turn right, she was not quite in my way.
- When driving down Madison Ave. this evening there as a guy in a Corvette behind me. He was riding my bumper pretty close and me being me, I was trying to stay close to the person next to me so that he couldn't get around. He finally is able to get around and speeds up to about 90 mph to go the length of about one stoplight. Can you say overcompensating? I can, and I can also say asshole.
- How bout the old lady on her motorized scooter who was going about 3 miles per hour in the MIDDLE of the lane in the parking lot at the mall. Please, can you not just pull over to the side of the lane so cars can get by? The cigarette hanging out of her mouth put her over the top, by the way.
- Oh- I forgot what started off NAD. This one was before I even got out of my own neighborhood. I was going straight and to my right there was a stop sign ( I didn't have one). I watched the lady as she pulled up to the stop sign and NEVER turned her head to look for other cars before pulling out in front of me. Well, I think we all know that she got a horn blaring. Fast forward to when I'm at the corner of Oak and Sunrise. The guy in the passenger side gets out of his car and comes up to my window. I was on the phone and of course ignored him. Please- is that a good idea?
So in honor of all these people, not to mention all the million people in Arden Fair Mall who felt the need to stroll 8 people across pushing strollers in front of me and going slower that your local neighborhood turtle. I wish you a very happy National Asshole Day.
