Christmas Miracle

On a day when my school does quite a lovely thing - filling the altar at church with stockings for the poor - I experienced one of those "pay it forward" kind of moments. At a time when things are bleak for everyone, the students and their families did their best to do unto others. And on that day, I was blessed with my own Christmas miracle.

Let me first set the stage: The story starts at BC orientation. One of the girls in my group was a girl named Amy. She ended up being friends/roommates with the one other person from my HS who went to BC. Fast forward to about 3 years ago. While at work at the Loft, this girl comes in and we know we know each other, but can't figure out why. Loretto? no... Schools where we work? no... She says, "did you go to Boston College?" I immediately knew it was Amy - how bizarre to run into someone in CA who I knew from so far away. Anyway... So she comes in every now and then, so I probably see her every 6 months to a year or so. The last time I saw her I just was sort of explaining my frustrations about the library and whatnot. Being a teacher as well, she totally understood. She works as a District Manager for a tutoring company, but has also worked as a teacher and was in the ed. program at BC.

So now the miracle... On Friday, the 12th, I received a an email from a woman from Amy's company saying that Amy had told her that our school may be in need of some books. She told me to send her an email of the titles I would like, or that she would send me a gift card to go purchase them. I absolutely could not believe it. I ran around for the rest of the day with the email telling everyone that it was my very own Christmas Miracle. It's nice to know there are people out there that would do this kind of thing for someone they've never met.
